Pasting copied text without formatting

This small shortcut will keep your documents tidy, with no unmatched fonts, colours or formatting surprises… just clean text.

Windows (Word / Outlook / Office)

Ctrl + Shift + V

This pastes just the plain text in most modern Windows apps. 

(Mouse alternative: right click (or left if left-handed) and select ‘Paste as plain text’.)

Mac (Word / Outlook / Office)

Cmd + Shift + V

Mac’s version of paste‑without‑formatting in supported apps. 

(Mouse alternative: right click (or left if left-handed) and select ‘Paste and Match Style’.)

Google Docs (Mac & Windows)

Ctrl + Shift + V (Windows/Chromebook) 

Cmd + Shift + V (Mac)
